Middle school life comes with responsibility. Whether that responsibility be social or academic... it's there, and it's hard to ignore. You, along with every other kid walking the halls are trying to figure out who they are. Don't let perceived confidence intimidate you. No one really knows what they're doing, yet.

In middle school, we often feel burnt out and overwhelmed. A common reason for this can be our friends. If you find that you are always the 0ne putting in the effort, but they don't do the same, it might be time to rethink that friendship.
N- Notice. First you have to notice the unhealthy behaviors and expectations.
E- Evaluate. Next you should think about the friendship as a whole. Are you happy with it? Does it cause stress? Are they giving you the respect and awareness you give them?
W- Work through it. Lastly, you need to decide what to do. Will you talk to your friend and try to fix it? Is this a recurring problem that is unhealthy? Are you going to leave the friendship because it is destructive to your mental health?
Whatever you choose to do, it's important to remember that it is your choice! You shouldn't let people influence your decision. You need to prioritize your needs. For example, if you decide to leave the friendship, don't let them try to bring you back with empty promises. If you end up staying when you know you should go, nothing will change.

I wish the articles credited the authors (with the exception of "Dear Iris"). Every newspaper, magazine, etc. gives credit to the authors. Please consider making this change! This newspaper is great, and the students work hard on it!
