Hispanic Heritage Month Highlight

Jose Andres was born in Spain, where he had learned “The Craft Of Cooking”. He first learned from his parents and then learned from the kitchen of Ferran Adria's groundbreaking avantgarde restaurant. Soon Jose had moved to the United States to New York and later to Washington D.C. so that he and his partners could build and make a bunch of restaurants that later on got a bunch of fans and won a lot of awards.


In 2010 he established the world central kitchen, which means for feeding/cooking for a bunch of people/many. Using the training programs to help empower communities and also strengthen all other economies.


He is also widely recognized for both of his culinary and humanitarian work. He earned a bunch of awards and prizes for what he did. In 2003 and 2018 he got mid-atlantic, he was titled Best chef from a guy named James Beard Foundation. In 2012 and 2018 he was listed in the top 100 most influential people. In 2015 president Obama awarded Jose “The National Humanities Medal. In Washington D.C. he holds 2 michelin stars for his avant-garde tasting counter mini bar.
